What's at Stake
The District Attorney’s Office prosecutes all violations of the state criminal law in the 13th District, comprised of Brunswick, Bladen, and Columbus Counties. The duties of the District Attorney are twofold: (1) to advise local law enforcement regarding legal issues and (2) to prosecute cases in the courtroom.
The Office of District Attorney is an elected, partisan position. Although I am a registered Republican, I would stress that anyone interested in the quality of justice in this area, including Democrats, should strongly consider my candidacy. Criminals do not ask what party you belong to before they victimize you. I want to be the DA for the entire community, regardless of your political affiliation.
I am currently an Assistant DA in charge of violent crime for the 5th District, which includes Pender and New Hanover Counties. Given the fact that the Districts are neighboring jurisdictions, I am acutely aware of the
challenges facing the area and I am well positioned to make an immediate, positive impact. Although law enforcement and prosecutors have historically respected jurisdictional boundaries, criminals never do. The truth is, I’ve been fighting crime in the entire area for the past nine years.
I am a prosecutor with 14 years of experience fighting crime on the streets and in the courtroom. Track record, not political party, should be the focus of a campaign for District Attorney. As you learn more, you will see that you should vote for Jon David, “The Proven Crime Fighter.”
